AttendUX vs Workday: the honest comparison
Workday is the Fortune 500 cloud HCM leader — founded 2005 by Dave Duffield (ex-PeopleSoft), headquartered in Pleasanton California, 10,000+ enterprise customers worldwide. Rich HCM, finance, planning and recruiting across one platform. Typical customer: 2,000+ employees, global operations, 6-18 month implementation. Typical pricing: $80-$150 per user per month (not public, quote-based).
AttendUX is MENA-native, built in Egypt + USA, for 5-500-employee businesses operating in the Arab world. Pre-configured for UAE Federal Law 33/2021, Saudi Mudad+GOSI+Nitaqat, Egyptian Law 14/2025, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Iraq. Instant 1-click setup, WhatsApp support, mobile-first.
These products serve very different buyers. This page is direct about when each is the right call.
The short version
Pick AttendUX if you are a 5-500-employee MENA business and want pre-configured UAE/Saudi/Egypt/Qatar/Kuwait/Oman/Iraq labor-law compliance, WPS SIF + Mudad, ZKTeco cloud sync, Arabic UI, mobile-first ESS, instant setup and WhatsApp support — for a fraction of Workday pricing. Pick Workday if you are a 2,000+ employee global enterprise that needs unified HCM + Finance + Planning + global analytics across many countries and currencies, with budget for a 6-18 month implementation and a dedicated internal team. If you are a Workday-standardized global enterprise with MENA operations, AttendUX typically runs alongside Workday as the local compliance + attendance layer.
The segment mismatch — Workday is not sold to 50-person companies
Workday has essentially no SMB presence. Minimum deal size is typically $200,000+/year. A 50-employee MENA business cannot buy Workday even if it wanted to — the sales team won't quote. Workday's smallest practical customer is around 1,000 employees, and the 2,000-10,000 band is the sweet spot.
AttendUX is purpose-built for the opposite end: 5 to 500 employees, self-serve signup, 1-click setup. The buyer is typically the founder, head of HR, or finance director — not a committee + implementation partner.
So a head-to-head "which is better" isn't the right question. The real question is: "what fits my organization's size, budget and timeline?"
MENA compliance — Workday needs a partner; AttendUX ships it
Workday's MENA compliance is handled through regional implementation partners who build custom extensions on top of the core Workday platform. For UAE WPS, Saudi Mudad+GOSI, Egyptian Law 14/2025, Qatari MADLSA — each requires custom configuration delivered by a specialist partner (often a 3-6 month project on top of the base implementation).
This works for enterprises with budget and time. It does not work for SMBs that need to run payroll next month.
AttendUX was built around MENA compliance from day one. UAE MOHRE SIF generation, Saudi Mudad+GOSI+Nitaqat tracking, Egyptian Labor Law 14/2025, Qatar MADLSA CSV, Kuwait CBK CSV, Omani SPF, Iraq CBI, dual IQD/USD — all native, all day-one, no partner required.
When Workday + AttendUX run side by side
If you are a Fortune 500 or large multinational with Workday as your global system of record, AttendUX is commonly used as the local MENA layer:
• Workday holds the global employee master data, performance, compensation, global analytics.
• AttendUX handles daily attendance (ZKTeco biometrics + mobile face check-in), MENA-specific payroll compliance (WPS SIF generation, Mudad submission), Arabic payslips, same-timezone support for local HR teams.
• Integration via scheduled CSV sync — AttendUX exports daily attendance + monthly WPS files; Workday ingests via its standard inbound EIBs.
This pattern is common for multinationals with 50-500 MENA employees in a global 10,000+ workforce. Buying a second full HCM system just for MENA compliance doesn't make sense; a lightweight purpose-built MENA layer does.
Where Workday clearly wins — global enterprise HCM
Workday is best-in-class for its target market. Honest list:
• **Unified HCM + Finance + Planning + Analytics** — one platform, one data model. Hard to replicate.
• **Workday Prism Analytics** — enterprise-grade self-service analytics with visualization that rivals dedicated BI tools.
• **Global talent management** — performance, compensation, succession, learning across 100+ countries and 30+ languages.
• **Workday Adaptive Planning** — financial + workforce planning in the same platform.
• **Enterprise-scale reliability** — SOC2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, 99.9%+ uptime SLA, enterprise customer-success teams.
• **Mergers + acquisitions tooling** — rapid onboarding of acquired entities into the master employee data.
For a 3,000-employee multinational, AttendUX cannot replace Workday. These are different products for different companies.
